JAWA was founded by a Czech businessman and inventor František Janeček. He bought a motorcycle division of a German company Wanderer and immediately started making affordable motorcycles called JAWA (JAneček and WAnderer). At some points in its history JAWA was hugely successful, exporting its motorcycles to more than 120 countries.
The 700 was a front-wheel drive vehicle with a two stroke engine. It differed from its DKW parent in having a 10 cm (4 in) longer wheelbase and 20 cm (8 in) wheels. This car is fully restored and driveable, she is the first limited production model built by Jawa under license from DKW in 1937, and one of only a handful left in the world today.
This is a very fine 635CSi indeed. There, we’ve said it. And it’s not just exceedingly fine, it’s also very rare. This is a manual and there aren’t many of those doing the rounds any more.
There are very few visible faults with this car with the previous owners spending around £4000 on it. Most of that expenditure was focused on sorting out the few things the previous owner hadn’t addressed. That owner spent £17,500 on restoration work.
Aside from one or two minor quibbles, we’re confident that this is one of the best 635CSis available. It has been restored from top to bottom, inside and out, mechanically and aesthetically.
Wonderfully restored over many years by the gentleman who has owned the car since 1963 until 2018. The car has only covered 90000 miles since 1993 ,mostly on tours, club events, continental trips and all journeys have been logged in detail.
The car is finished in blue over black and with grey leather trim and glass division. The body is completely sound and solid as with the underneath and the restoration work and attention to detail is very impressive. The car is fitted with an aluminium cylinder head and the car drives extremely well. The car comes with substantial paperwork, documents, notebooks, manuals, invoices and much more relating to the restoration work.
